4 months old

Laneygirl,

You are 4 months old now and a pure delight! You weighed in at 15 pounds, 4 oz and measured 25.75 inches! wow! I had to put away most of the 3-6 months clothes this week and take out the 6 month stuff. You are big! You have the biggest smile to match, such a cute giggle, and LOTS to say! This past week you have started grabbing stuff (plates, cans, whatever is within reach) and you have held small toys and your bottle for a couple of weeks now. You are almost ready to roll - you do get to your side pretty well but not all the way over yet. You eat three pumped feedings (5 oz. each) and about 3 other feedings per day. You sleep from 8 pm to 7 am and usually wake up around 1:30 A.M. to eat but sometimes you skip this and feed at 4:30 A.M. This month you took you first plane trip to Michigan for a family wedding and also went to your first birthday party when Alice turned one year old. That will be you before we know it! Now we are busy winding down the school year so momma can spend summer with you! We are preparing for our big trip to see Gramp in Costa Rica. So glad I will get to spend the next 2 months with you every day. We love you so much Laneygirl.

Love,

Momma

First time at the pool!

The weather has been deliciously hot the past couple of days so yesterday we ate an early dinner and headed out to the pool around 6 pm, hoping for the best. We hadn't been to the pool since last summer. Well, it was COLD and pretty dirty too, so Laney just dipped her toes once. O. went in up to his waist, and took a couple spins around with daddy, but mostly we just hung out on the edge and talked about how fun swimming would be when the water warmed up. ha!

Cowboy Festival

This year marked the 18th year of the Cowboy Festival in Santa Clarita, our kids' hometown. My parents have been attending for the past three years and loving it, so this year we got weekend festival passes and went all together for two days of western fun.
It was originally known as the Cowboy Poetry Festival, but has evolved to be a music and poetry fest, complete with crowds dressed from head to toe in Old West garb. It made for fun people watching. It is held at Melody Ranch Studios, an old western town set about five minutes from our house where many westerns tv shows and movies (such as Deadwood and Dukes of Hazzard) have been filmed. It is privately owned and only open to the public during this festival, so I was super excited to walk around the western town Main Street. There were some great musical acts, including The Messick Family Singers, a local group spanning three or four generations, and The Hot Club of Cowtown, made up of three string players with some mad skillz! The first day turned up VERY windy which stirred up a lot of dust, so Laney only lasted in the Bjorn carrier for about 3 hours before heading home to sleep all afternoon with daddy, while the rest of us stayed til 4 or so. Sunday we came prepared with the whole carseat/stroller combo (with dust cover) to make her more comfortable, and all stayed til 5.
