Laney is one!

Laney turned one two days ago and we just cannot quite believe it! Laney you are a sweet spitfire. You let us know what you are after and you have some hilarious moves! You just loved your spaghetti and meatballs birthday dinner and your first cupcake too! Owen helped decorate your cherry cupcakes. Grandma and Grandpa came to dinner and Gramp celebrated from far away. So many people left birthday comments on momma's Facebook and I will try to print them out for your scrapbook.

Your doctor appointment for 1 year well check is later today so I will have to update with your latest stats, but you are wearing 12-18 month clothes and keep fluctuating between size 3 and 4 diaper. You got your first pair of shoes earlier this month and enjoy them a lot, tapping and standing. You love to pinch and say "ow" as you are doing it. You sign "more" and "milk" so we are practicing all done, water, eat, book and ball. You say thank you, and copy lots of words you hear. It is so cute to hear you say daddy and Hi owie. A few weeks back you were calling daddy "daddoo" a lot but seem to have let that go. Luckily we taped it. Now where to back up all the audio files?

You love to giggle and laugh and lately have been arching your back into a backbend position and throwing your head back a lot.
You play the instruments more on your own at music class with Ms. Moira and just this week have a new facial expression that is so funny- you furrow your eyebrows and look so mad! The nose scrunch expression seems to be gone. You took a step a couple weeks ago but nothing since, just lots of walking with us holding your hands and standing on your own for several moments. You can stand up on your own but don't love using the rolling walkers. Soon enough, my dear.

We have several pix and some video from your birthday dinner to post soon. You received great duplo blocks from tia Kim, a fun
coin bank from Grandma and Grandpa, your own paper garbage truck from Owen, and new socks, maple arrowroot cookies, and a banana toothbrush teether from momma and daddy. Happy birthday Laneygirl!

Getting our Christmas Tree-Frosty's Trees

Ever since we moved to Santa Clarita in 2007 we have been picking our tree at Frosty's just down the street. This year we went on Saturday, December 17. There was no one else there when we arrived and later one other family came to pick a tree. We went with an 8 footer this year. Owen just loved his "big tree". Laney was all smiles too.

Ten Months

Laney's turned 10 months on the day of Grandma and Grandpa Prichard's 40th anniversary celebration in Pittsburgh during Thanksgiving weekend. She was on her first day of antibiotics ever for an ear infection and had been generally miserable and clingy all week, so she wasn't terribly sociable during the party. For the first half of the party she wore a mint green shimmery dress with a velvet bodice and ribbons/flowers hanging down over the skirt. For the second half I changed her into a blue and white pantsuit from the 70's that my mom had made (along with a matching dress that she had).

Laney's 10 month stats:

wears 12 month clothes
size 3 diapers
says uh-oh, daddy, Owie, and hi
has 6 teeth and getting 2 more
about 20.5 pounds and 29 inches or so

Laney's First Thanksgiving

Delaney took her second airplane trip the Saturday before Thanksgiving to visit friends and relatives in Pittsburgh and Ohio. We had so much fun during the trip. Both kids did great on the plane and momma successfully assisted in installing the rental carseats in the minivan. Some of the highlights included:
*Two great flights
*Jeanie, Owen and momma walking to St. Andrew's (where momma and daddy got married) to watch the bagpipers.
*Owen picking fresh carrots for dinner for Jeanie's garden.
*Visiting Tia Kim, Anthony and Katie in Ohio and meeting up with old friends at a fun reunion at Tia Stephanie's. While there, we visited the new Hudson Library too. Grandpa accompanied us on the two day trip. So fun to see Michelle and her beautiful Angie, Kim M. and her two awesome growing boys Matthew and Andrew, and Stephanie with her son Bryce. Owen, Anthony, Katie, and Laney all had a blast and can't wait til the next adventure!
*Thanksgiving Day at Connie's with Uncle Walter, Lillian and Buzz, Donny and Susie, cousins Connie, Ed, Susie, Syndee, Canaan, Evan, Chris, Joan, and Dallas, and so many family and friends!
*Grandma and Grandpa's 40th anniversary party
*Pizza lunch with everyone (30+) on Saturday
*poor Laney's first ear infection :( (not a highlight- but very memorable. Luckily she was not in pain on the flights.)

My First Halloween!

Laney was a Ladybug for Halloween. In the first pic, she is sporting a cute halloween outfit- we are hoping the pants from Aunt Linda and Uncle Chris still fit next year! Laney enjoyed the neighborhood block party on Sunday the 30th and trick-or-treating with momma, daddy, and Owen the firefighter on Monday the 31st. Next year, she might even get to eat a piece of candy!
